Why We Buy??

If you a shopper, you would love it as it describes you. If you are a marketeer you would too love it as it gives insights on how your consumers shop!!

Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping by Paco Underhill is one of the amazing books on consumer buying behavior that I came across recently. The book not only explores consumer buying behavior but also is a great insight on how retail stores can improve their sales by providing right consumer experience.

The book is easy to read and not text heavy as it is full of interesting examples. Some of the concepts in the book are very good.  Some of them are butt-brush factor ( one that discourages woman from shopping and hence the stores should have broader ails) or Transition Zone ( the landing space from outside into a store makes a whole different on consumers' experience) or difference in buying behavior of men, women and kids.

Overall , I would say it is a great book to read for everyone who has interest in shopping and retail.
